kolukattai / steamed dumpling / கொழுக்கட்டை - step by step procedures with pictures @ Ve chef

Ingredients 

1. Rawa Rice / Par Boiled Rice / Idly Rice  - 1/2 kg 

2. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp

3. Bengal gram - 2 tbsp 

4. Onion - 3 nos 

5. Green Chilies -  3 to 4 nos 

6. Curry leaves - 3 spring 

7. Coconut - 1 no ( small ) 

8. salt  - to taste 

9. Oil - 40 ml 


Method 

1. Soak the rice in water for 2 hour then grind it coarse ( not like paste, it is a very important to make this kolukattai) then only you can get the soft kolukkatai (kozhukattai)

                               

2. Heat the oil in kadai then add the mustard leave to crack it well, then add the bengal gram to make it golden colour 



3. Add the chopped onion, curry leaves, and greenchillies then saute to make it well to make it light brown colour of onion. 


4. Grated or roughly ground coconut is add into it then saute it well  


5. Pour the ground rice batter into it then make it thick till the water evaporate stage  




6. Hold by your palm and make it as lengthwise place it on the Pre- heated steam pot, close the lid and leave for 15 mins to cook 

                             
   

7. After 15 mins switch off the stove and serve in hot stage with chutney
